Welcome to the team document site for The Front Range Mine Rescue Team.
Colorado Front Range Mine Rescue is the first fully qualified MSHA (Mine Safety Health Administration) rescue team to bridge the training requirements gap between Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), and US National Incident Management System (NIMS). Position Task Books (PTB) have been developed for: Mine Rescue Technician 2 (MRT2), Mine Rescue Technician 1 (MRT1) and Strike Team Leader Mine Rescue (STLMR). PTB requirements for Task Force Leader Mine Rescue (TFLMR) have been defined for development of a task book at a later date. Other Agencies are welcome to replicate and adapt our document formats, to create their own training standards and Task Books.
Colorado Front Range Mine Rescue (FRMR) is a non-profit volunteer-based organization meeting the rigorous standards specified in the Code of Federal Regulations (30CFR§49) administered and inspected quarterly by the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA). Team Members are a cadre of experienced miners who meet at least once a month to train and maintain a full mine rescue station including: Closed Circuit 4-hour Breathing Apparatus, Industrial Scientific gas meters and underground communications systems. We train with a variety of rope rescue equipment. We provide specialized training for industry and military groups, and assist MSHA employees with the deployment, testing and development of new underground communications technologies.
This site has three additional pages, reached through clicking on the appropriate page selection tabs:
- Home is this Entry Page.
- Training contains our team instructions to complete the necessary ICS training and background check, in order to be issued a National Incident Management System (NIMS) Compliant ID card. Our task book training matrix defines the training tasks contained within our agency Task Books.
- Task Books contains three task books. MRT2 (Mine Rescue Technician 2) is the entry level task book that parallels the minimal requirements from MSHA to be a trained member of a Mine Rescue Team, with the addition of basic ICS coursework required by NIMS. MRT1 contains additional training standards that we train to as a team. The Strike Team Leader Mine Rescue (STLMR) is an ICS compliant task book for leading many Mine Rescue Teams in the field.
- ICS Docs is for informational forms or documents that will be expanded upon as required. This page currently contains a Crew and Cargo Manifest with weights for dispatching a team by airplane or other conveyance. There is also a sample copy of our Incident Qualifications Card issued to our qualified members.
